Emerging Farmers Cattle Carcass Competition at Sernick Farm

On September 7 and 8, 2023, the Sernick Farm in Liebenbergstroom was abuzz with activity as cattle farming enthusiasts gathered for two days of competition, learning, and networking. The event, which commenced at 9:00 AM on Thursday morning, was a deep dive into the world of cattle farming, featuring the much anticipated “On the Hoof” and “On the Hook” judging, enlightening guest presentations, and hands-on practical demonstrations.

Participants had the opportunity to witness expert judging and “On the Hoof” cattle evaluation conducted by the South African Fatstock Judging Association (SAFJA). Additionally, attendees were treated to insightful presentations by Bonsmara SA and RMI TED.

Special mentions go to Khomotso Mashiloane, the Transformation Coordinator at RMI TED – Red Meat Institute for Transformation and Enterprise Development. Mashiloane engaged with SerDev and Sernick Group, discussing the Emerging Farmers Carcass competition and the top-tier genetics being produced for the market by emerging farmers. Sandile Nzuza, the Breed Advisor from Bonsmara SA, also shared insights on the Emerging Farmers Cattle Carcass Competition hosted by Sernick Group Farm in Liebenbergstroom.
