Meet Bokamoso Mabudi

Monitoring Process and Success Story of Bokamoso Mabudi

Monitoring involves conducting follow-up farm visits to observe and assess the progress of farmers from the initial (baseline) visit. This process is essential for measuring the impact of farmer mentorship, identifying areas for improvement, and addressing any signs of regression.

One of the standout farmers identified during the monitoring phase is Bokamoso Mabudi, a young and dedicated participant in the Livestock Development Programme by The Impact Catalyst and SerDev. Bokamoso operates on a farm called Rooipomp, near Ganap village in the JTG District. After completing his National Diploma in Mixed Farming from Potchefstroom College of Agriculture in March 2023, he committed to farming full-time. His third year of study included experiential learning on a commercial farm, enhancing his theoretical knowledge and equipping him with skills like pregnancy diagnosis, which he now applies on his family farm.

Since the baseline visit, Bokamoso has made remarkable improvements in his farm management practices. By the monitoring visit on September 17th, he had developed a comprehensive record-keeping system for his livestock, which supports his decision-making and helps him track progress and identify issues on the farm.

In addition to his farm management practices, Bokamoso attended a 15-day NQF training held in Laxey village, where he learned valuable skills in breeding selection and planning. He has since applied these techniques to enhance the breeding quality and overall productivity of his herd.

Bokamoso is a shining example of dedication, constantly striving to improve his livestock management practices and genetics in pursuit of becoming a commercial farmer.
